How to see the current firmware version of your DSi/3DS console.
Turn on your DSi/3DS. In the DS Menu, click "System Setting" icon.
The current version of your DS console shows on the bottom-right of the upper screen. For instance: "ver 1.3U", "ver 1.0.0-0U".
Cartridge Firmware
Cartridge Firmware is the basic control program written inside the cartridge. Some of the cartridges' firmware can be upgraded by end-users.Once you upgrade the firmware of your DSi/3DS console, you have to upgrade the firmware of your cartridge in order to keep it compatible with the upgraded DSi/3DS console. A cartridge with a lower firmware version can not be recognized on a DSi/3DS console with a higher firmware version.

Operating System Installation
You need to install Operating System files onto the microSD card before using the cartridge. Failing to properly install system files to the microSD card causes the following symptoms: freezing on the "loading" screen (R4, R4sdhc, R4i, Acekard and N5); dead/black screen (M3, R4, Acekard and N5); error message/"system file is missing" message (R4, Acekard, N5, SuperCard, DSTT), "Do not recognize cartridge" (R4ids), etc.Please download the correct OS files and extract them into the ROOT folder of your microSD card.
